McBRIDE, A (Samuel O?)

Source: Greencastle Star Press 11 July 1896 p 8

On Friday morning while Mr. A. McBride (Samuel O I believe - kz) was at work with a horsepower windlass moving Robt. Graham’s house on Poplar Street, the chain by which the horse was attached to the windlass gave way and the lever flew back, striking Mr. McBride, a terrible blow just below the ear. Green Parker, who was at work near, picked up the injured man, the blood streaming from nostrils, mouth and ears and carried him to the front of the building, where an examination showed the poor fellow was dead, his neck being broken by the blow. The body was taken to Hanna’s undertaking establishment and cared for. Mr. McBride was a middle-aged man and leaves a wife and four children to mourn his sudden death. - kbz
